Our Privacy Policy
The Cochrane Back Review Group (BRG) web site is administered by the Institute for Work & Health (IWH). The Institute respects the privacy of the individuals with whom it communicates and recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of all personal information. We take every precaution to ensure the privacy, accuracy and security of the personal information provided to us.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
All personal information collected is protected under federal and provincial privacy legislation. This means you will be informed that your information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected and your right to access that information. Should the intent for the collected information change, the Cochrane BRG Coordinator will contact the individuals to obtain consent for the new purpose.
Personal contact information is provided voluntarily by visitors to this site who wish to receive further information or become involved in the Cochrane BRG. The information collected includes name, mailing address, e-mail, and phone and fax numbers and the type of involvement the individual wishes to have with the Cochrane BRG. In addition, we collect limited demographic information on job title, profession and organization. All contact information is stored in a secure database at the IWH and as part of the Cochrane Collaboration's Information Management System, both of which are individually maintained by an administrator. We do not sell, share or lease our mailing lists.
The Cochrane BRG web site does not use "cookies," however, we do use software to monitor web site traffic and collect usage statistics including the domain name locations of our visitors, downloads, the number of pages viewed, and the length of their visit. This information is presented in aggregate form for trend analysis and system administration.
Our web sites contain links to other external sites. The Institute is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We encourage users to read the privacy statements of each web site to which we may link which may collect personally identifiable information.
Accuracy
IWH makes every reasonable effort to ensure that the personal contact information it collects is accurate and complete for the purposes intended. Subscribers can change/update their contact information at any time by contacting the Cochrane BRG Coordinator by e-mail at cochrane@iwh.on.ca.
